As the first man to walk on the moon once famously said
“I can hear the cows from up here” – some famous guy
The Milk Man delivered again, and this time it wasn’t only milk, Colton knocked in a 2-run homer in the eighth to propel the O’s back ahead 4-2 Baltimore. Cowser kicked off the season with some electric defensive and offensive performances but has since returned to the planet Earth albeit maintaining a respectable .234 average. Nonetheless a major upgrade from last season’s .115.
Cade Povich took to the mound for his second time wearing orange and making his Camden Yards debut against the always dangerous Braves offense. What better way to make yourself known to Birdlanders than throwing six scoreless innings at home.
Quite the juxtaposition from his last performance 6/6 vs the Blue Jays where he gave up 6 earned runs. This time holding the Braves to 5 hits and dishing out 6 punchouts, we hope to see similar performances from the 24-year-old pitcher out of Nevada in the near future.
AL Manager of The Year Brandon Hyde’s bullpen is in dire need of healthy pitchers, and now more than ever. A few weeks back the Orioles announced John Means and Tyler Wells are unfortunately out for the remainder of the reason. To further the burden, Kremer’s tricep issue remains ongoing and Coulombe has been placed on the 15-day IL with left elbow inflammation (hopefully nothing serious).
In other positive Orioles pitching news- Kimbrel earns his 16th save of the season against one of his former teams. Other than a few rocky outings, Kimbrel continuously proves to be a reliable closer.
After getting swept in the latter part of May by the Cardinals the Orioles have been on an absolute terror with no regard for the hopes and dreams of the franchises that stand in their way, winning 16 of their last 20.
The Orioles will see Atlanta one last time tomorrow 1:05 PM EST before welcoming the Phillies into town Friday for a 3-game series.
